IDG (as PGADC) were appointed to assist the masterplanners in creating the best premium frontline views whilst retaining the integrity of the golf course. Once the masterplan was set, the detailed design for the golf course was carried out and delivered to the client. IDG have since redesigned the course twice due to a changing brief, all within the fixed fee promised at the start of the job. During the design process, as Jaypee were building the Formula One track, several hundred thousand cubic metres of soil were taken to build the track. This left the golf designers with the challenge of designing the course to survive in a flood plain. Working with engineers WSP, this was achieved in a sustainable and cost effective manner.
